Thieves happen to be looting ambulances in six different Texas metropolitan areas to consider costly specialized stretchers.
They first struck around Thanksgiving, and therefore are considered to have stolen about 12 stretchers over the condition. To date they've sharpened stretchers in Temple, Dallas, Georgetown, Austin, Houston and Round Rock.
These Stryker stretchers, that are offered at $10,000 or even more based on what features you put in, operate on battery power operated assist system that can help raise minimizing the stretcher. This can help reduce injuries to paramedics who'd otherwise need to lift the stretchers.

"It's mainly utilized by EMS (emergency medical services) agencies. It's pretty specialized," Dork Reimer, the manager director of Capital Area Trauma Regional Advisory Council, told Caramba Today today.
Based on Reimer, the perpetrators have mostly been striking during the night once the ambulances are parked and locked. They enter the ambulance and steal the stretchers.
"Those who are taking them maybe somewhat acquainted with them [the stretchers] to have the ability to maneuver them effectively," stated Reimer. "The analysis continues to be pending, however."
Regardless of the apparent cost, Reimer was undecided about the robberies because "there's not just a market for this except to EMS agencies since it is pretty specialized."
"We do not find out what their intention is," stated Reimer. "We are speculating that they are attempting to make money from it in some way though."
