40 years ago, June 21, 1972, an Connected Press digital photographer, Nick Ut, was shooting photos outdoors of Trang Bang village, South Vietnam, when South Vietnamese planes accidentally dropped napalm tanks on Trang Bang, this was occupied by North Vietnamese troops.

Nine-year-old Kim Phuc was with several ordinary people attempting to flee the village once the planes mistook them for soldiers and bombed all of them with naplam. Ut taken Kim Phuc yet others drained from the bombed village. She was naked from getting her clothes shed. Ut plus some other journalists rapidly went to assist the burned villagers, saving Kim's existence.
4o years later, Ut and Kim still remain in touch, and due to this tragic yet infamous picture their lives have grown to be connected forever. Ut won a Pulitzer Prize for Place News Photography in 1973 for his 1972 Connected Press photograph of Phan Thi Kim Phuc.

Within an interview with KABC7 LA, Nick Ut referred to the scene: "I keep shooting, shooting photos of Kim running. When she passed my camera, I saw her body burned badly, I stated, 'Oh my God, I'm not going forget about pictures.' She was screaming and crying. She just stated, 'I'm dying, I am dying, I am dying,' and, 'I take some water, bring water.' Immediately, [I] run and set water on her behalf body. I wish to help her. I only say forget about pictures, I wish to help Kim Phuc immediately."
