Scientology 101

A meaning of Scientology is difficult to pin lower. Essentially, it is a system of values, teachings and traditions initially established like a secular philosophy by L. Ron Hubbard. His 1950 book Dianetics: The Current Science of Mental Health, provided the main concepts of the items would later become Scientology.

Scientologists regard the publication from the book like a seminal event, and celebrate its publication date -- May 9, 1950 -- like a religious holiday.

A main belief of Scientology is that an individual is a mortal, spiritual being (known as a "thetan"), essentially good, and it has resided through many past lives.

The best objective of Scientology is "true spiritual enlightenment and freedom for that individual." Saved reminiscences of Thetans' past lives can cause issues in the current.

Scientologists think that the "reactive mind" (the portion that creates an entirely stimulus-response basis, not underneath the control of the baby) instructions a person's awareness, reasons, ideas, body and action. Through counseling known as "auditing," Scientologists believe they are able to reduce and eventually erase the energy from the reactive mind, a resource of irrationality, fears and bad dreams. Before one is audited they're considered "Pre-Obvious."

Individuals that achieve the greater teachings known as OT (Operating Thetan) III, a condition to be past the initial "Obvious" condition, inside the Chapel of Scientology are stated to discover Xenu, the intergalactic ruler who inserted thetans, or alien spirits, in Earth's volcanoes 75 million years back.
