Fidelity National Home Warranty

Our home warranties help protect you against costs originating from unexpected repairs and/or replacement of a home’s major systems and appliances.

Alright, so I have had this home warranty service for 11 years. They have provided some good service providers and some awful service providers. Plumbers in particular have left me wondering how some of them can stay in business. But back to the rating – I’m writing this because my most recent experience has left me feeling strongly how poorly Fidelity advocates for their customers! Case in point, I’ve been waiting two months for a new toilet. There was no explanation given, even though I asked on multiple occasions, why the toilet would take that long to order. It was in stock at Lowe’s, Home Depot and from multiple vendors on Amazon. Now that the toilet has arrived, the plumber has not kept either appointment to install it in the past two days. Not only is the plumbing company incompetent, but Fidelity seems to lack any initiative or influence over their performance. I would not recommend this home warranty company.

Val came the 1st day to fix our heat, much to our dismay the motor seemed to have gone bad so he had to order the part and come back the next day. He was so pleasant and so patient. Its nice to see and meet people like Val. It showed hard work and perseverance which is rare these day! Thank you Val!

Considering that people are more apt to post reviews when they had bad service than with satisfactory service, I’m not surprised by the number of negative reviews on here. I would be torqued too if I felt that way and would want to let others know. Thankfully, my experience has been much different. Last year I purchased a (renovated) 50 year old house in San Diego. The seller provided me with a FNH home warranty for one year, with the comprehensive option. Two weeks after moving in, my circa 1980′s garage door opener smoked. For $55, FNH replaced it with a $300 model made in Germany. Their replacement was a huge upgrade from what I had initially. Fast forward to last month. I finally got tired of dealing with the quirks of my circa 1970′s double oven; the top door wouldn’t close, the timers didn’t work, and the top oven would not regulate temperature correctly. FNH sent out a repairman to confirm the problems and the age of the oven (no parts available). I now have a new $1800 double oven as a replacement, also for a $55 deductible. FNH has done right by me, they have saved me over $2000 out of pocket in just equipment costs alone. I have renewed my warranty for another year; I do not want to deal with the hassle or expense of replacing my 50 year old furnace or ancient water heater.

I’ve had this warranty now for 3 years. Bought it when I purchesed a home in california, and keep renewing it. So far I’ve had 4 service calls. My duel oven doors were not staying shut. My pool pump stopped working and my ac has had 3 different problems. Had new oven door hinges installed all 4. Had my ac unit basically overhauled. New compressor, filters, flushed , contact board. The bad part about this reoai was the time it took to get the compressor. I had 5 month old twins during June last year it was over 100 everyday. I was a little upset that it took a week. But they offered to help me buy a window ac unit to help keep them cool. I was shocked. Sure am glad that one wasn’t out of my pocket. New thermostat on my wall. And today had another problem. Ac quit again yesterday. Needed a new condesor fan. Its fixed 24 hours later. I normally wouldn’t write a review but all the negative reviews made me feel like I should share my experience with this warranty company. Like all extended warrantys for everything there can be loop holes. But I feel they have done a great job and appreciate them. Ty. I’m a real customer this is not fake in any way feel free to contact me. Wwolfeman@yahoo.com. PS my pool pump was just plugged from debris inside. Kinda my fault. But they paid to have it taken apart and cleaned.

We bought a new home (foreclosure) recently. Actually it was our first home purchase ever so we learned a lot the hard way about home warranties. Got a great deal on the house, but we knew it would need lots of repair $$ to restore it to the shape it should be in & then some. This we knew. What we didn’t realize when we started having a slow leak in the shower and then it seemed somewhat hard to turn off the valves, was that our house water pressure was starting to take a turn for the worse. The leaks got really bad very fast outside the house at the pressure gauge/water turn off area. We learned “later” via our water bill that for short period of a few weeks with the leaks starting & getting worse, that usually its $20 monthly (we use a lot of water too), but it skyrocketed to $120. When the leak first started in the shower, we called a plumber & started saving the $ he said it would cost to fix our slow leak. He wanred us any leak could cost us when the water bill came out. He was right about that. We weren’t working so had to wait to get some money. What we didn’t realize was our realtor had purchased Fidelity Home warranty for us b4 escrow closed so we had plumbing coverage so I called them when we learned this and that’s when the water heater blew. Fidelity sent someone immediately out when I called (w/in a matter of an hour or 2). A fantastic co. came to help w/out plumbing issues. By that time the water heater poured water down our stone tiled kitchen floor we installed (good thing we had porcelain tile, as it supposedly doesn’t absorb moisture as much). Being ignorant new home owners, we didn’t even know how easy it was to turn off the hot water at the top of the water heater (duh). It all happened so fast however while we were sleeping so turning off the hot water wouldn’t have been an option (as we were sleeping when this all happened). We got everything fixed and Fidelity paid for all of it. We paid $55 only. Problem was the hot water heater went crazy that night after it was fixed, and the next day same thing (water on the floor), so they replaced the water heater entirely and we never had a plumbing problem again. You can pipe your water heater emergency value to the outside of your house so water won’t run through your house if that happens. Anyway, Fidelity rocks. They paid for everything. I can’t imagine how much it all would have cost us. Thousands probably. They were courteous. They were considerate. I was shocked. I realize now how impt. then it is to have home warranty aside from your other home insurance policies. Since toilet sounded like queen mary when we flushed, we got new toilet, new faucets in sink, new drain, new shower fixture, new water pressure valves etc replaced, new water heater. Shortly after we had an electrical issue – doorbell wasn’t working either. I called Fidelity for electric repairs & they were resolved. So now we have no issues but when we do we will use the same plumbing and electrician that Fidelity used. Trustworthy contractors. So I just renewed my warranty online for the next year and added washer/dryer and refrigerator etc. But we couldn’t afford to pay the entire warranty ($450) and couldn’t pay 1/3rd for 3 months, so I called & they let us pay a small fee for 6 months. I would highly recommend Fidelity Home Warranty – at least here in Los Angeles County you get great service. You never know what’s gonna happen when you first buy something. I feel confident that if something goes (ie shower leaks, gas stove stops working), I can call them to fix). Love their contractors too.

Fidelity National Home Warranty sends the worst technicians. The tech made a report stating a part to my water heater was missing, when it wasn’t…attempted to charge $415 out of me for the “missing” part and Fidelity refused to believe me . I called a random plumber and had the problem solved for $100, water heater works better than ever. Fidelity and their contractors really have dissapointed me.

Called for service on my heater in the dead of winter. The repairman completed the work. When spring started the AC would not work. Contacted the warranty company to advise them about the non working AC and suspecting that it was because the equipment that was fixed in the winter wasn’t installed properly. They said that i only had 30 days make a claim. Its tough to test an air conditioner when the temp is 10 degrees. Non the less i paid the deductible again. Wouldn’t you know.. When the same repair guy came out to fix the unit again.. It was because he didn’t connect it properly. Great way to get some repeat business. Bad way to keep customers. Warranty company didn’t seem to care.. As long as they got their deductible. The work wasn’t don’t right in the first place. They should not have had to pay the repair man to come out again.. But again.. They didn’t seem to care. I don’t think i would recommend this company.

This is my 2nd year with Fidelity. After paying them 375$ the 1st year And 350$ this year I come to find out that not a whole lot is covered the 2nd year. I have had an ongoing problem with the heating/cooling system in this house and after paying 50$ for 4 different visits from contractors no one can seem to fix the problem, yet I have to keep paying 50$ to diagnose the problem. Now hey tell me that if it isn’t the heat pump, it isn’t covered. It has been established that it isn’t the heat pump, but my condenser and system is still running and costing me electricity. These people should be out of business and I plan on filing a claim with the insurance adjusters of the state of Oregon and California. BUYER BEWARE, JUST ANOTHER INSURANCE COMPANY. HAVEN’T WE HAD ENOUGH OF THEM COLLECTING AND NOT LIVING UP TO WHAT IS RIGHT?, Leesa – Gresham, OR

If I could give Fidelity a ZERO rating, I would. This company uses lazy, cheap technicians who are unwilling and incapable of fixing anything. The worst part is they charge you the service fee, even when the technician has to keep coming back because he didnt fix it the first time. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE THE WORST! I’ve only made 2 service calls during my contract and both claims were rejected. I have the Comprehensive Option, which apparently only means that you pay more money for nothing, because even though the comprehensive option covers code violations, Limits of Liability #5, states that if something is improperly installed, then it won’t be covered.
