Twin panda cubs' names revealed at zoo atlanta's 100-day celebration

Meet Mei Lun and Mei Huan!


What they are called from the giant panda cubs at Zoo Atlanta were revealed today because the twins switched 100 days old, a milestone date within the Chinese tradition when pandas are named. Zoo Atlanta partnered with "Hello America" this October to place the pandas' names to some public election. Five teams of names, all from ancient Chinese idioms, were supplied by the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China's Sichuan province, and 1000's of votes put directly into GoodMorningAmerica.com.


These winning names, Mei Lun and Mei Huan (pronounced May Loon and could Hwaan), range from ancient Chinese idiom "Mei Lun Mei Huan," that was accustomed to describe built structures which are tall and sumptuous. It's arrived at mean something indescribably beautiful and sumptuous.
